Traffic Movement to Remain Shut on J&K’s National Highway Tomorrow: Officials

Srinagar 06 January (KNB): The National-Highway road, which is the only surface link, connecting Kashmir with the rest of India, will remain shut for the traffic movement tomorrow due to the snow accumulated on roads and landslides at many places.

As per officials, the unsuitable conditions of the roads and landslides at many places around the Jammu-Srinagar national highway makes it unwise to allow any traffic movement on Thursday.

However, there have been almost a large number of vehicles stranded on the National-Highway since days now. The authorities had to make further them wait after the heavy snowfall from yesterday morning, which was already predicted by the MET Department, Srinagar.

Given the closure of only link road between Kashmir and rest of India, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir too had issued order on Tuesday for rationing of essentials to avoid any inconvenience to the general public. (KNB)
