Srinagar 27 January (KNB): Militants trapped at an encounter site in south Kashmir Shopian’s Check Nowgam area have managed to escape.
The encounter started yesterday evening at Check Nowgam area after a cordon and search operation was carried out by security forces following inputs about the presence of militants.
In the initial firing, three soldiers had received bullet injuries and were subsequently shifted to hospital for treatment.
However, there was no casualty reported from the militants’ end during the gunfight. It has been also said that after an exchange of fires, the trapped militants managed to escape from the encounter site.
It is pertinent to mention that the encounter came on the 26th January late evening when almost every part of Kashmir was under the vigil of security forces throughout the day especially during early hours. (KNB)
