Srinagar 23 December (KNB): Security forces on Thursday morning spotted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted on Pulwama-Srinagar road in Wanpora area.
The official in a statement said that after acting on a specific intelligence police, 183 Bn. CRPF and 50 RR jointly launched a search operation this morning during which an IED weighing about 5 Kgs was found.
The IED as per officials was planted on the roadside and was later detonated in-situ by a Bomb Disposal Squad. The officials further said that a major tragedy was averted by the timely spotting of the IED.
The militants are being suspected to have planted the IED, said the officials, adding that a few suspects have been picked up for questioning in this regard. (KNB)
