Scattered Places of Valley Receive Fresh Snowfall, High Intensity Spell Expected During 26-27th

Srinagar 23 December (KNB); Light snowfall and rain occurred at scattered places of Kashmir and over Sonmarg-Zojila axis with resultant rise in temperature at several places of the valley above sub-zero degree.  

As per reports reaching KNB, fresh snowfall had occurred at Gulmarg, Razdan Pass, Sonamarg-Zojila axis and other higher reaches of the valley. However, it was also corroborated by the weather officials by saying the scattered places of the valley have received fresh snowfall.

The official further said that the present weather condition is likely to continue till next 24hrs. “Another snow spell of greater intensity is most likely during 26-27th,” said the weatherman.  

With the wet spell and MeT officials’ already prediction regarding the further rise in temperature to be observed in both UTs of J&K and Ladakh, the mercury rose above sub-zero last night at several places of the valley, with Srinagar recording 2.6 degrees Celsius, which on the previous night was -1.8 degrees C.

Similarly, the temperature also rose above sub-zero at other places of the valley. Qazigund recorded 0.8 degrees C, Pahalgam 0.3 degrees C, Kupwara 2.6 degrees C, Kokernag 0.7 degrees C and Konibal 0.5 degrees C. However, tourist spot Gulmarg remained below sub-zero temperature last night at -3.7 degrees C. (KNB)
