Srinagar 19 July (KNB): Retired Employees of J&K State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) on Monday staged a protest at Press Enclave and demanded the release of their gratuity and leave salary.

Scores of the aggrieved employees raised slogans against the management of the SRTC, its MD and FA.

“For two years they (SRTC) have not done anything for us. Our leave salary and gratuity is pending with them, besides other benefits too. Whenever, as per government order it should have been released within a week. But two years have passed without anything done in this regard,” said one of the retired employees of SRTC.

He further said that some of the other retired employees have contracted Covid infection and are finding difficulty in meeting medical expenses.

“Also our retired colleagues are not able to pay fees of their children, studying in different educational institutions,” he added.

They further said that they are fighting for the release of gratuity and leave salary for two years. “We are now appealing to the commissioner secretary transport to please release funds so that everyone from us would be able to receive their own part from it,” the employees said. (KNB)
