First Ever ‘Siachen Cricket League’ Kicks Off

Srinagar 19 July (KNB): To encourage local sportspersons,  first ever ‘Siachen Cricket League’ kicked off on Monday, officials said.

A statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau said that as part of ongoing ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ celebrations for commemoration of 50 years of 1971 war, the first ever Siachen Cricket League has been organized under the aegis of Fire and Fury Corps.

Officials said that eight teams from the remote Nubra Valley are participating in the cricket tournament.

“The Siachen Cricket League will encourage local sportsmen to showcase their talent and will strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Indian Army and the citizens of Nubra Region,” officials added. (KNB)
