Srinagar 16 October (KNB): Rattan Lal Gupta on Saturday was elected as Provincial President for Jammu Province after being appointed for the post by the National Conference some days ago.
In wake of the resignation of Devender Singh Rana from the NC as Provincial President of Jammu along with Surjit Singh Slathia, NC nominated Rattan Lal Gupta as Jammu’s Provincial President and on Saturday Gupta was elected for the post.
As per JKNC tweet, the election was held transparently under the supervision of AGS Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal and other senior party leaders.
The National Conference party congratulated Gupta after he was elected as Provincial President of Jammu and wished for his success.
Following the election, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah said in a tweet “Congratulations & best wishes to Rattan Lal Gupta ji. I have no doubt his experience & seniority in the party will benefit JKNC greatly. I look forward to continuing to work with him to strengthen the party across Jammu province.”
On the other side Nasir Aslam Wani was re-elected as Provincial President, Kashmir. The JKNC said in a tweet that the process of election was transparent. Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah, General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar and other party leaders & functionaries were present.
However, the party congratulated Wani’s re-election as Provincial President of Kashmir and wished for his success.
On his re-election, Omar Abdullah congratulated Wani and said that the party cadre has reaffirmed its faith in Wani’s leadership.
“I have no doubt you will continue to steer the party through the myriad challenges & opportunities in Kashmir province. I look forward to continuing to work closely with you Nasir,” said Abdullah in a tweet. (KNB)
