PDP Youth Wing Barred From Conducting Meet; Mehbooba Asks JKP for Explanation

Srinagar 28 August (KNB): Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday asked for explanation from Jammu and Kashmir Police after Peoples Democratic Party’s youth wing was barred from conducting a meeting in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s district Anantnag.

Former Chief Minister and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti in series of tweets said, “PDP youth is not being allowed to conduct a meeting in Bijbehara today. The gates leading to Mufti sahab’s grave have been locked & blocked with barbed wires. Can JmuKmrPolice (Jammu and Kashmir Police) explain why were these young men roughed up?”

After being disallowed to conduct the meet, the youth wing members held a protest against the administration and raised slogans against them.

PDP Chief went on to
criticise the centre and said, “Preventing PDP youth from holding a meeting in South Kashmir reinforces GOIs strategy of not allowing any meaningful political engagement. Esp one that involves Kashmiri youngsters. GOI wants to justify their iron fist approach by branding all Kashmiris as perpetrators of violence.”

Mehbooba further said that the GOI is pushing Kashmiris to the wall.
“Daily encounters where militants are killed have become a a source of celebration for GOI. But PDP doesn’t believe in violence or dignity in death. We want to fight peacefully & politically. By discouraging political activities GOI is pushing Kashmiris to the wall,” she said, in her tweet. (KNB)
