Srinagar 13 January (KNB): Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant from Pakistan, was killed by security forces in an encounter in South Kashmir Kulgam’s Pariwan area.
The encounter started in Kulgam’s Pariwan area yesterday evening after a cordon and search operation was carried out by a joint Army, CRPF and Police team.
In the initial firing, police personnel, SgCt Rohit Chhib, got killed, and three Army men with two civilians got injured. However, in operation, one militant was killed by forces.
As per IGP-K Vijay Kumar, the slain militant was identified as Babar Bhai of Pakistan. He was said to be active in the areas of Shopian and Kulgam since 2018.
After the operation, forces recovered one AK rifle, one pistol and two grenades, said police. (KNB)
