Srinagar 20 October (KNB): Indian National Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday said that he met 11 districts’ people in an around 60-70 delegations during his four days visit to J&K and heard all of them condemning the civilian killings and seeked for perpetrators behind the incidents to be arrested.

Azad said while talking to reporters here that the civilian killings are condemnable and the same was heard by him while meeting people of Kashmir’s 10 districts and Jammu’s Ramban. He said that in his meeting with delegations everyone was determined that the perpetrators behind the civilians should be arrested.

He said that all the delegations longed to live with Sikhs, Hindu, Muslims, Kashmiri Pandits and Christians with love in J&K. Azad said people in delegations unanimously abhorred the killing of anyone whether from other states or UTs.

“The non-local labourers leaving Kashmir can further retrograde the valley back in terms of its development,” said the INC leader.

Regarding the developmental works in J&K, he said nothing of such kind is happening right now. “Unemployment has risen, inflation is soaring and diesel, petrol, gas prices are astronomical,” said Azad, adding that rising prices of construction materials have been a reason for disappointment.

He further said that seizing motorcycles of people in the wake of civilian killings is wrong and condemnable. He said that such things could further create anger among people against the government.

“Government should follow after things which are pro-people and should avoid pressuring people, who are already distressed due to militancy. Government should come up with something to create a pleasant atmosphere,” said Azad. (KNB)
