Srinagar 09 August (KNB): Jammu and Kashmir Kisan Tehreek (JKKT) and Central of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Monday staged a protest in Press Enclave demanding the revocation of the farmers’ and labours’ laws made by the government since August 5, 2019 and especially during the pandemic lockdown.

A CITU worker, Abdul Raheed Pandit, during the protest said to reporters that the protest has been organised throughout the country by Kisan Tehreek and CITU today and in that connection Mazdoor, ASHA workers, Agandwadi workers, Midday Meal and CPWs are protesting here under the banner of JKKT and CITU against the formation anti labours and farmers laws since August 5, 2019 and covid lockdown.

Pandit said that their protest is to rescind the laws which were made under the garb of the lockdown. “Our demand is to roll back the black farmer laws,” he said..

“There were 44 laws for us which were obtained by labours from the last 70 years but this dictator and oppressing government reduced it into 4 codes by amendments, which we are strongly condemning,”  said Pandit.

He further said that the workers of different organisations have been suffering because of the laws and orders passed by the government.

“This is a dictatorship and darkness, but there will be a dawn of truth and honesty after the passing of this transient darkness,”  added Pandit. (KNB)
