J&K Under Direct Assault from New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi in Srinagar

Srinagar 10 August (KNB): All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary and Member Parliament, Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said Jammu and Kashmir is under direct attack from New Delhi.

Congress Leader, who is on a Two day visit to Kashmir, was addressing a gathering at J&K Congress headquarters at Moulana Azad Road in Srinagar.
Rahul said that he is fighting the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and his policies of dividing India.

He said that he is fighting against the PM Modi and that his fight is against Modi’s Ideology and violence he has been preaching besides his mission of dividing India.
“I will continue to fight till victory,” Rahul emphasized.

Roaring from the pulpit in front of a massive crowd, He said that not only J&K is facing an attack but other parts of India such as Tamil Nadu, Bengal and other states as well. “But one thing is clear that Jammu and Kashmir is facing a direct assault from New Delhi,” he emphasized and added, “while other parts are facing an indirect attack.”

He further clarified the stance of Congress for Jammu and Kashmir and said that the statehood should be restored fully as well as assembly election, in a free, fair and transparent manner should be conducted.

On the occasion, Rahul Gandhi assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that he feels their pain. “I am with you to build a relationship based on Love and Honour,” he said.

Rahul said that he tried to visit Jammu and Kashmir during Covid-19 and after the abrogation of Article 370 but was denied to do so.

Rahul told the gathering that he has an ancestral connection with Kashmir and has inherited a tinge of Kashmiriyat as well. He said, “Nowadays, my family lives in Delhi. Before Delhi, my family lived in Allahabad and before that my family lived here (Kashmir). So, I can say that a little bit only, I do understand you.”

“Your customs and ideology that we call Kashmiriyat, is in me as well,” Rahul said, adding that whenever he visits Kashmir, he feels like is coming home.

The Congress Leader said that all that you want to do with people of J&K should be based on love and honour since the people here have an old age culture of the same.

Moreover, earlier on the occasion, Former J&K Chief Minister and Senior Congress Leader, Gh. Nabi Azad had appealed to Rahul Gandhi to get the bill for Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood passed during the next three days in the parliament.

He also said that Jammu and Kashmir is a border state and the Lieutenant Governor cannot look after the law and order situation. Azad added that only a local Chief Minister can.

Responding to Azad’s suggestion, Rahul Gandhi during his address said that he is not allowed to speak in the parliament. “I cannot speak about Raffle, unemployment and corruption,” he said.

Referring to BJP, he said that they have attacked Judiciary, Lok Sabha  as well as the voice of Media has been silenced. “Journalists can’t write what they want to. They are being threatened,” he added. (KNB)
