Encounter Starts in Shopian’s Feeripora

Srinagar 12 October (KNB): An encounter started between militants and security forces on Tuesday morning in South Kashmir Shopian’s Feripora area, said Police. 

The encounter started after a cordon and search operation was carried out by a joint team of police, army and CRPF in the suspected area after receiving inputs about the presence of militants there. 

Feeripora encounter started after launching of CASO in the area subsequent to the starting of the encounter in Shopian’s Tulran, Imamsahab area on Monday evening. 

In the Tulran encounter, three militants of LeT (TRF) were killed by security forces overnight. Among the three slain militants, one has been identified as Mukhtar Shah, a resident of Ganderbal, who shifted to Shopian after killing one street hawker Virendra Paswan of Bihar, said police quoting IGP-K Vijay Kumar.     

However, the identities of two other slain militants are yet to be ascertained, as per police. (KNB)
