World Diabetes Day Observed in Bandipora

Bandipora 14th November (KNB): World Diabetes Day was organised by Block Medical Officer Bandipora at different places of block Bandipora under the aegis of directorate of heath services Kashmir and Chief Medical Officer Bandipora Dr B A Khan.

BMO Bandipora Dr Masarat Iqbal wani said that the World Diabetes Day 2020 theme is “The Nurse And Diabetes”. It highlights the crucial role that nurses play in helping people with diabetes and others with a range of health concerns.

He added that we must bring awareness about causes, prevention tips for diabetes as nurses play a crucial role in supporting diabetic patients adding that as per studies one in two adults with diabetes remain undiagnosed.

November 14 is observed as World Diabetes Day. India is known to be the diabetes capital of the world. According to the World Health Organization, 6% of the world’s population has diabetes. This year, World Diabetes Day falls during a global pandemic, which has taken over a million lives all across the world.

As per WHO, people with diabetes are at higher risk of severe COVID-19 and even death.

Many people attended the event as well as witnessed healthy crowd at different health and wellness centres of the block.

BMO said that when it comes to diabetic patients, they too need the help of nurses. As the number of people with diabetes continues to rise across the world, the role of nurses and professional support staff has become all the more important.

World Diabetes day was observed at all heath and wellness centres of block Bandipora and screening of blood sugar was done. (KNB)
