Trafic Plan and Advisory in View of Increment Weather Predictions

J&K 14 November (KNB): In view of inclement weather prediction issued by MeT department (rain and snowfall) in J&K for next few days, there are chances of blockade of NHW -44. People are advised to avoid journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW-44, officials notified. 

Officials stated, however, subject to fair weather and better road condition, Light Motor Vehicles (passenger) shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (Commuters are advised to follow the SOP issued by the Govt. to prevent the spread of Covid 19).

It was notified that no Vehicle shall be allowed after the cut off timing which is, LMVs from Zig (Qazigund) 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs, adding that HMVs/Load Carriers shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar.

Regarding the Security Forces Convoy Movement, authorities stated that security forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

Officials stated that on 20-11-2020 Friday, there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from either side in view of maintenance/repairing of the NHW, adding that trucks/Load Carriers may adopt Mughal road (From Srinagar towards Jammu). Commuters are advised to plan their journey accordingly .

At present Mughal road is closed due to snowfall, subject to fair weather and good road condition only downward traffic (load carriers) loaded with fresh fruits shall be allowed from Herpora (Shopian) from 1100 hrs to 1600 hours towards Poonch, officials stated.

Adding that no vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing. Moreover, no passenger vehicle or pedestrian shall be allowed on Mughal Road.

Regarding the SSG (Leh-Kargil) road, officials stated that at present SSG road is closed due to snowfall. Vehicular movement shall be allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road, subject to fair weather and good road condition.

Officials further stated that People are advised to undertake journey on NHW-44 only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units which are; Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625). (KNB)
