Wet Spell Likely in Plains of J&K, Snowfall in Higher Reaches During 14th-15th Night

Srinagar 11 December (KNB): As per the Meteorological department Srinagar, a wet spell is predicted during 14th and 15th December night in the plains of J&K, with moderate snowfall in higher reaches of North Kashmir in the same period.  

MeT officials in a latest weather update said that most likely there would be a light snow/rain in the plains of the J&K and a snowfall in the higher reaches especially in North Kashmir during the 14th and 15th night of December.  

It was further said that there would be no heavy rain/snow in the ongoing Western Disturbance.  MeT officials while ruling out the prediction for any severe wet spell in J&K said “there is no forecast of any heavy rain/snow during this spell of WD,” the MeT officials said.  

However, as the mercury is continuously dipping across the valley below freezing point, the temperature recorded last night in Srinagar was -3.6 degrees C. 

While Qazigund in the south recorded minus 3.7 degrees C, tourist spot Pahalgam in the south recorded minus 6.4 degrees C and Kokernag recorded minus 3.4 degrees C. 

Pertinently, Kupwara and Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded minus 4.3 degrees C and minus 5.5 degrees C during last night, respectively. (KNB)
