Video of Militant Surrender Goes Viral in Pulwama

‘Forces have given me a new life, another opportunity to live’ says Sakib

Pulwama 27 October (KNB): Kashmir Zone Police uploaded a video on their Twitter handle in which one of the militants during the encounter in Noorpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Sakib Akbar Wazz resident of Ghulshanpora Tral, who had recently joined Hizbul Mujahideen, capitulates to the forces.

In the first 41 seconds of the 2:20 minute video, Sakib can be seen with his armed raised, heading towards the group of forces to surrender.  The video has made circulations on different social media platforms.

Further in the video, Sakib while sitting in a room said, “I was pursuing B’tec in Patiala Punjab, currently my 3rd years going on and I had joined militancy on 25 September. Today (26th October) Police cordoned the area and these security forces have given me a new life, another opportunity to live and I am really thankful towards them”.

He further said, “I also want to say to other boys that this militancy and all is nothing, just an ill minded thing and want to say to all my friends and others to do their work, take care of their family”.

Yesterday a joint team of Police, army’s 42 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. As the forces approached towards the suspected spot, militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

A militant, identified as Showkat Ahmad Lone, a resident of Charsoo, Awantipora was killed during the encounter. (KNB)
