UK Regulator Fines Arnab Goswami’s Channel for Promoting Hatred Towards Pakistanis

New Delhi 23 December (KNB): British broadcasting regulator Ofcom has imposed a fine of Rs. 19.7 lakhs on Republic TV owner Arnab Goswami’s Hindi news channel in Britain for
Promoting and justifying hatred towards Pakistani people.

On Tuesday, Ofcom imposed the fine on Worldview Media Network Limited that holds the license for Republic Bharat, which targets the Hindi speaking community in the UK, for various breaches of their Broadcasting Code.

The breach in question referred to a screening of “Poochta Hai Bharat” episode on September 6, 2019, 14:26 pm.

The broadcasting regulator has also imposed a direction on the channel to broadcast a statement of Ofcom’s findings and not to repeat the programme. (KNB)
