BJP Earns Maximum Votes in J&K’s First Ever DDC Elections

Srinagar 23 December (KNB): Maximum number of votes were polled for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the first ever District Development Council elections held in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the figures with Kashmir News Bureau, so far the total votes casted for the candidates of BJP is 699141, which is the highest among all the parties. J&K NC earned 463302 votes, the sum of votes earned by all the independent candidates is 804675, J&K PDP earned 112933 votes, INC earned 393768 votes, JKAP earned 151105 votes, JKPC earned 56659 votes, CPI (M) earned 6905 votes, JKPM earned 10644 votes, JKNPP earned 91817 votes, PDF earned 20938 votes and BSP earned 24766 votes.

So far, the results have been declared for 276 DDC seats out of 280, i.e 14 seats in each of the 20 districts.

BJP has won 74 seats, J&K NC has won 67 seats, 49 seats have been secured by the independent candidates, J&K PDP has won 27 seats, INC has won 26 seats, JKAP has won 12 seats, JKPC won 8 seats, CPI (M) won 5 seats, JKPM won 3 seats, JKNPP and PDF won 2 seats each and BSP only one seat.

Pertinent to mention that BJP can get district chairmanship in only 6 districts of Jammu province while PAGD or non BJP can rule remaining 14 districts of J&K including 4 in Jammu province. (KNB)
