Two Persons Died in Vehicle After Stranding From Yesterday Morning in Banihal

Banihal 24 January (KNB): The death of a driver and another accompanying person took place in Banihal near the railway station on Sunday when both persons were in the Tata mobile — one of the vehicles stranded on the road from yesterday morning.

A person from the site of the incident told the Kashmir News Bureau that the driver of Tata mobile vehicle carrying vegetables was found dead in the morning and another was shifted to a nearby hospital after finding him in critical conditions.

“We broke the window of the vehicle and brought both persons out. The driver of the vehicle was showing not any sign of movement and was probably dead. While another person, seemingly critical, was shifted to a nearby hospital with the help of local NGO and other drivers present at the site,” said an eyewitness. 

He said that the second person was also declared dead after shifting him to the hospital. “We were waiting here from yesterday 11:15 am, and the traffic police stationed at the area were not letting us go. Even the roads were quite passable for vehicles, but we were not allowed to move. The traffic police are only allowing those vehicles to go ahead who are paying them money,” he added. 

However, the deceased were identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir and Majid Gulzar Mir both belonging to a Kupwara district’s Kralpora village. 

While the reason of death due to which both persons have died was maintained by medical officials as Hypothermia. (KNB)
