Two Day session of fourth general council of Smc concludes

Srinagar 23 Feb (KNB): Two day Session of the fourth General Council of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) under the chairmanship of Mayor Srinagar Mr Junaid Azeem Mattu was today concluded with the unanimous passage of two more resolutions by the house .

The resolutions included the proposal that the name plates of registered mohalla/ colony in urdu with sub_title in english is proposed to be installed at a conspicuos places of mohhala/ colony.

Earlier four resolutions were passed in the council with a majority of Corporators maintained.

All the listed questions raised by corporators were answered at the conclusion of the two day session of the General council.

Further more issues related to drainage, polythene, vital steps for beautification of Srinagat city , improvisation in sanitation including scientific mechanism of garbage disposal , building permissions and the issues pertaining to public importance were disscussed at length.

Mayor Srinagar emphasized to intensify the anti polythene drives, with a greater focus on awareness cum education drives by involving students, youth and other members of civil society to eradicate polythene completely.

It was also disscussed in the council that Anti Polythene wing of the Corporation have conducted various drives and seized atleast 10.50 quintals of banned polythene from January 2018 and imposed fine of Rs. 1.60 lacs from different offenders/vendors and shopkeepers of Srinagar city.

Furthermore it was recommended that the entry point lakhanpur and entry points of other districts viza viz Budgam, Pulwama, Gaanderbal, Baramullah needs to be put under surveillance and regular inspection/ raids to the premises of the buissness hub, stockiest and retailers needs to be conducted.

Regarding works, Mayor Srinagar stressed to expedite the works in an ongoing process including construction of lanes,drains,community halls, community toilets ,public toilets etc with its execution as per the priority of the Corporator and within a stipulated time.

Besides Commissioner SMC Mr Tariq Ali, Additional Commissioner Nazir Ahmed Baba, Joint Commissioner Adm Ab Majeed Raina, Financial Advisor SMC Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Secretary SMC Hilal Dewaani various senior Officers of Corporation, Public and some journalists from Media Fraternity were present in the council.
