TRF Commander Among 5 Militants Killed in Kulgam’s Two Separate Encounters

Srinagar 17 November (KNB): Five militants including TRF commander were killed by government forces on Wednesday in two separate encounters in South Kashmir Kulgam’s Pombay and Gopalpora areas.

 
The encounters started in the afternoon of Wednesday, one followed by another. First, the gunfight started in the Pombay, Kulgam after a cordon and search operation was launched by forces in the area which resulted in a full-scale encounter.   
 
In the Pombay encounter, police said that three militants were killed. However, the identity of the slain were not immediately ascertained by the officials. 
 
Subsequently another encounter broke out in the district’s Gopalpora area in which, according to IGP-K Vijay Kumar, two militants were killed including a commander of TRP outfit, Afaq Sikander. 
 
However, as the encounters were still going on in Kulgam, police on twitter handle said quoting IGP-K that a major tragedy was averted by Pulwama Police & security forces.
 
It was said that the two LeT militants associates namely Amir Bashir & Mukhtar Bhat arrested by Pulwama Police & SFs during joint naka checking.
“2 ready to use IEDs were recovered from their possession. Investigation in progress,” said police quoting IGP. (KNB)
