Torching of Hindu Temple in Srinagar is Fake, No Such Incident Happened: Police

Srinagar 20 May (KNB): The news about the torching of a Hindu temple in the summer capital Srinagar of J&K has been declared by Srinagar Police on Thursday as fake, saying no such incident is reported to have taken place.  

The rumours were spread on social media about the burning down of the Hindu temple by Islamic State militants, located in the Soura area of Srinagar, which police on Thursday said is fake news as no such incident has taken place. 

Srinagar police said that “No such incident is reported to have taken place.” They further said that FIR has been registered and legal action initiated against those spreading this fake news. 

However, the rumours about the torching of the temple were also scotched by the locals as no damage was seen by them inflicted on the temple, as per reports.

The reports further said that the temple was damaged in 2017 due to a short circuit. (KNB)
