Srinagar 05 July (KNB): Director of Desh Bhagat University Amit Sachdeva on Sunday said that the talent is present in Kashmir, but the platform, needed to channelise it, is lacking.

While talking exclusively to news agency KNB on the sidelines of a cricket tournament in Sopore, Director Desh Bhagat University Amit Sachdeva said that it was a beautiful experience to be here. “I have been here for the last five to six years and have observed the love of people and the respect they give to one; I feel peace and relaxed here,” he said.

Replying to a question of whether players of the valley have potential to play at national and international level, he agreed and said that they are already playing at national and state levels and have their presence also in IPL. “It is a good platform that they are coming up with,” he added at the end of a cricket tournament in Sopore’s Warpora.

Sachdeva also said that Kashmir’s youth are doing well in academics as well. “There are almost 50% of students in our university who are from Kashmir and are doing very well in every department,” he said in reply to a question.

He further said that talent is present in Kashmir but what is needed is a platform for which the government should get involved besides other companies as well so that the existing platform would be enhanced. “Talent is there, but no proper platform is seen,” he said.

Sachdeva also conveyed in his message to the youth of Kashmir that “Say no to drugs and yes to sports”. By that, they will excel, he added. (KNB)
