Surankote Encounter: JCO, 4 Army Personnel Succumbed To Injuries, Operation On

Srinagar 11 October (KNB): A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and four army personnel were killed in an encounter on Monday in a forest area of Surankote, which falls in Jammu’s Poonch district.      

In the encounter, as per an senior Army officer, five personnel were killed including Junior Commissioned Officer after suffering grievous injuries in the operation, which started in the forest area of Surankote after a CASO was launched in wake of the specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.  

During the operation, the personnel inflicting grievous injuries were shifted for treatment to an army hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.  

The army personnel, who lost their lives during the encounter, have been identified as Nb Subedar Jaswinder Singh SM, Nk Mandeep Singh, Sep Gajjan Singh, Sep Saraj Singh and Sep Vaisakh H. 

However, till last reports, the operation was said to be going on in the area. (KNB)
