Stones Pelted on Team of JMC, Police Amid Anti-Encroachment Drive in Jammu; One Injured, Two Vehicles Damaged

Jammu 22 January (KNB): One person sustained injuries as locals pelted stones on a team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and an accompanying police party, as they were on way to demolish a structure, which was being raised illegally in Sunjaw area of Jammu.

Officials said that as the teams were on their way towards the spot, locals had already gathered and started pelting stones at them.
During the stone pelting, a JCB’s driver was injured as well as accompanying police vehicle and the JCB got damaged, officials said.

An eyewitness stated that as the JMC and Police were approaching the spot, large number of people had already gathered and started throwing stones at them.
These locals wanted the teams to head back so that the demolition doesn’t take place.

As per officials, JMC had already objected the construction, which was going on in the building, but the same wasn’t being followed, adding that the situation is peaceful for now. (KNB)
