Sopore Gunfight: Forces Believe Militants Escape After Fleeting Exchange of Fires

Srinagar 29 May (KNB): Following a short exchange of fires in North Kashmir’s Warpora area of Sopore on Friday evening, the militants escaped from the site, as per an official. 

As the police yesterday confirmed about the starting of an encounter in Sopore’s Warpora area following the one which started in Shopian’s Ganapora area in which one militant was killed, the official on Saturday said that militants fled after a momentary exchange of fire in North Kashmir’s Sopore.     

However, the gunfight had started yesterday evening after a cordon and search operation was launched by security forces. The holed up militants, as per the official, had fired upon the forces which was retaliated with the same response.  

Later to make operation further intense with the positioning of more forces, but no response was reported from the other side, which makes out that the militants had escaped from the site of operation, as per the official.

It is pertinent to mention that there also was no official update from the police on its twitter handle regarding the encounter till the filing of this report. (KNB)
