Sakina Itoo Orders Inquiry into Alleged Beating of 3rd Class Student at Presentation Convent School

SRINAGAR, June 11(KNB): Jammu and Kashmir’s Minister for Social Welfare and Education, Sakina Itoo, has ordered an inquiry into the alleged beating of a Class 3 student at Presentation Convent School in Srinagar.”

Speaking to reporters, Itoo said, “I have directed the Director of School Education Kashmir to investigate the matter thoroughly and submit a detailed report. If anyone is found guilty, strict action will be taken.”

The statement comes a day after a family from Rajbagh accused teachers at the school of allegedly beating their daughter. However, the school’s principal has firmly denied the allegations, terming them “untrue and baseless.”

While addressing media on the sidelines of a public event, Itoo also commented on the ongoing heatwave in the Valley. “The heat has intensified over the last two days. We have already directed schools to refrain from holding morning assemblies outdoors,” she said, adding that the decision on announcing summer vacations will be taken “as and when needed.”(KNB)
