Pulwama, Feb 12(KNB):One militant of hizb-ul-Mujahedeen out fit and two army soldiers including a para commando were killed in an encounter that broke out between militants and the government forces in Ratnipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
As per the reports, a joint team of army’s 50 RR, 10 PARA, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation around 3 am in Ratnipora area following specific inputs about the presence of militants, forces were carrying out searches when the militants opened fire at them.
The forces retaliated, leading to a gunfight in which three soldiers were wounded, and were immediately evacuated to army’s 92 base hospital, Badamibagh Srinagar where two of them succumbed.
The slain soldiers are identified as Sepoy Baljeet Singh and Naik Saneed of 10 PARA.The injured has been identified as Hawaldar Chander Pal, while the slain militant is identified as Hilal Ahmad of Begumbagh Pulwama.
Meanwhile, intense clashes erupted near the site of the gunfight as soon as the encounter ended.(KNB)
