Budgam, Feb 13(KNB):Two militants were killed in a brief encounter that broke out in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, on Wednesday.
As per the reports, a cordon and search operation was laid jointly by the police and the forces in Gopalpora area following credible inputs about the presence of militants, searches were going on, when the militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight.
Two militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of gunfight.
One of the slain militant is identified as Dr.Hilal.Ahmad.Wani of Yaripora Kulgam, while the identity of other is yet to be ascertained.
Witnesses said that intense clashes had erupted near the site of the gunfight.
Meanwhile, the Internet service was suspended in the district soon after the gunfight broke out.(KNB)
