Principal Secretary YSS Alok Kumar E-Launches YSS Cup 21, Over 3 Lakh Players Participating

Jammu 07 September (KNB): Principal Secretary to Govt Youth Services & Sports Department J&K Alok Kumar on Tuesday E-launched the first ever ‘YSS Cup’ at Khel Gaon Nagrota here.  All the 20 district contingents participated in the E-launching of the sports extravaganza through virtual mode.

As per a statement issued to KNB, while speaking about this important initiative of JK Government, Alok Kumar said, ‘’The YSS Cup 2021 is the brainchild of J&K’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the basic motive behind organising YSS Cup is to tap sports talent in young boys and girls at the panchayat levels and to provide them the best possible ways of showcasing their talent.’’ He further stated that such initiatives are taken to involve the talent and energy of JK youth in the positive direction. He further said that these activities are meant to provide facilities of play to the young blood at their door steps.

He was accompanied by Deputy Director of the Department Jatinder Mishra, DYSSO Jammu and other senior officers of the Department of Youth Services & Sports.

Pertinently, four games viz Cricket, Volleyball, Kabbadi and Kho-Kho have been kept for the choice of both students and non-students to select from for taking part in the game and sport of their choice.

A total of 21360 teams from different panchayats of the UT are taking part in the Inter-Panchayat Block Level competitions involving more than 3 lakh 10 thousand youth.

Director Youth Services and Sports Department J&K Gazanfar Ali  also participated in the E-launching of the mega event from Khonmoh panchayat of district Srinagar along with DDC member Srinagar, Aijaz Hussain Rather, JD YSS (Kashmir) Bashir Ahmed and DYSSO Srinagar Balbir Singh.

After taking part in the historical sporting event, Director YSS said that the Department is committed to provide facilities of play and recreation to the youth of J&K at all panchayat levels and huge infrastructure is being developed to meet the demand in this regard. (KNB)
