Srinagar 08 December (KNB): J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) on Wednesday staged a protest at Press Enclave here against no implementation of Minimum Wages Act and demanded regularization of daily wage employees.

President EJAC Rafiq Rather, who was leading the protest along with other heads of the committee, said that they are protesting to regularize 61,000 daily wage employees and implement the Minimum Wages Act until a comprehensive regularization policy for daily wagers is not made by the government.

“We have been coming out on the streets for almost the last ten years now regarding the demands of the employees. They are living in miserable conditions. Several PDD’s daily wage employees have died in the line of duty, but no compensation or SRO is there for them,” said EJAC President.

He further said that the government should immediately regularize the daily wager employees and implement the Minimum Wages Act for them.

“If government did not take notice of this symbolic protest this time, 4.5 lakh employees of J&K would have no other option than to come out on streets to seek the demands of all these employees,” said Rafiq Rather.  (KNB)
