Srinagar 08 December (KNB): An encounter is underway between militants and government forces after breaking out on Wednesday morning in South Kashmir Shopian’s Check Cholan area, said police.
The encounter started after a cordon and search operation was carried out by a joint force of Police, CRPF and Army in a suspected area of Shopian’s Check Cholan.
However, so far there was no official confirmation about any damage inflicted on either side engaged in the gunfight.
Pertinent to mention that the encounter is in process as of now between forces and trapped militants. The number of militants trapped at the encounter site is believed to be a few.
Regarding the encounter, Police said “Encounter has started at Check Cholan area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.” (KNB)
