Srinagar  October 29 (KNB): Two PhD Scholars, Dr. Abdul Qayoom from Handwara and Dr. Riyaz Ahmad from Rafiabad were allegedly beaten by policeman near Gunjoo House at Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

While talking to Kashmir News Bureau on phone, Riyaz Ahmad one of the victim said, “We were on the way to see a opthalmist and were stopped by BSF forces to check  identity cards, But soon after the checking policeman  who was in his civil dress started thrashing us without any reason.”

“We were unnecessarily beaten and thrashed by a police man. We feel like we are not safe in our own home, we have not done any thing to deserve such hatred from police. We are Phd scholars and haven’t done anything wrong to be beaten like this.” He said.

When Kashmir News Bureau contacted S.P Sopore Javed Iqbal he said, “I have not received any such information yet and won’t make any comment unless i meet the two personally. ”

However , Both the scholars were clueless about what happened to them and were totally disheartened. (KNB)
