Police Bust Gang of 7 Burglars, Recover Stolen Property Worth Lakhs 

Srinagar 04 December (KNB): Budgam Police on Saturday said that they have busted a gang of burglars and arrested seven members of it along with stolen property worth lakhs of rupees.

Officials said in a statement that on Ist December, Police station Magam received a complaint from a resident of Batpora Kanihama regarding a burglary at his workshop Mansoor Automobiles located at Agrikalan Magam. “In this regard, a case FIR number 254/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police station Magam and investigation taken up,” the statement read. 

It further said that a special team headed by Insp. Gowhar Ahmad SHO Police Station Magam was constituted to trace the burglars and during the course of investigation, after strenuous efforts some suspects were rounded up for questioning. 

During questioning, one suspect namely Imran Hassan Mir, a resident of Kakarpora Mirgund Pattan confessed his involvement in the burglary and his disclosure lead to the arrest of two more accomplices — Yawar Abbas Malik, a resident of Lashkar Mohalla Nishat and Aijaz Ahmad Malla from Dewar Parihaspora, who had hatched a criminal conspiracy and actively participated in the commission of crime, said police in the statement. .

Further, during sustained questioning of the trio, recovery of stolen property was made from Syed Akther Shah of Parihaspora Pattan which he had concealed at his workshop near Shadipora crossing. 

It further said that following more leads, the investigating team made more recoveries from their other accomplices — Pervaiz Ahmad Guroo, a resident of Narayan bagh Ganderbal and Irfan Hussain Sofi, a resident of Dab Ganderbal — which they had concealed at their workshop at Dub Ganderbal. “Some more recoveries of stolen property were subsequently made from the residence of Imran Hassan Mir which he had concealed in a tin shed,” said police in the statement. 

It was further said that the investigation also revealed that one more person namely Zulfkar Ahmad Dar, resident of Chenabal Mirgund Pattan was also part of the crime who had  used his vehicle Maruti-800 bearing registration No. PB 10AG-9210 for commission of crime which was seized from Wushan Kangan Ganderbal.
