Advocate Illegally Draws Family Pension of His Deceased Wife, CBK Produces Chargesheet

Srinagar 04 December (KNB): Crime Branch Kashmir produced a charge sheet before court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar against an accused advocate Omkar Singh for illegally drawing the family pension of his deceased wife. 

As per CBK, against the accused Omkar Singh, who is a resident of Harduchaman area of Rafiabad Baramulla, a chargesheet in case FIR No. 03/2014 U/S 420, 468, 471 RPC of P/S CBK was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar for illegally drawing family pension of his deceased wife Naseeb Kour, who had died on 11-08-2003.

“Brief facts of the case are that the Crime Branch Kashmir had received a complaint from one Balbir Kour alleging therein that one Omkar Singh is illegally drawing family pension of his deceased wife, Naseeb Kour even after his re-marriage, said CBK, adding that “Consequent to the complaint a preliminary enquiry under PV No: 02/2013 was initiated.  During probe, it  substantiated that accused Omkar Singh had knowingly and fraudulently drawn an amount of Rs 2.91 lacs as family pension in the name of Naseeb Kour, even after his re-marriage and accordingly the Case under FIR No: 03/2014 U/S 420, 468, 471 RPC was registered at P/S Crime Branch Kashmir and investigation set into motion.” 

It was said that during the course of investigation, relevant records to the subject matter were seized and statements of persons familiar with the facts and circumstances of the case were also recorded under relevant sections of laws. 

Later, CBK said that it was found the accused advocate was receiving the family pension under PP No: 408542, through Govt. Treasury at Anantnag and subsequently at Srinagar.

“The investigation further revealed that after the death of Naseeb Kour, the accused advocate has contracted a second marriage. He knowingly and fraudulently obtained the family pension in the name of Naseeb Kour even after the death of his wife Naseeb Kour and after contracting a second marriage,” said CBK. (KNB)
