Police Arrests Peddler, Recovers 2 Kg Heroin in Kupwara

Kupwara 8 June (KNB): Kupwara Police on Tuesday recovered 2 Kilograms of Heroin from a peddler, arrested at a checkpoint in Karnah area of district Kupwara.

Officials said that police party of ‘Police Station Karnah’ established a Naka in Yariban hajitra’Taad area of Karnah.

“During checking, Naka party intercepted a person in a suspicious condition. The party apprehended the said person who disclosed his Identity as Naseer Ahmad Sheikh S/o Mohammad Ismail Sheikh R/o Hajitra,” officials added.
As per officials, during his personal search 02 Packets of Heroin weighing about 2 Kgs was recovered from his possession.

“Accordingly legal action has been taken and case FIR No. 61/21 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Karnah against the accused person and investigation has taken up,” officials said.

They further assured that the war against these Drug Peddlers will continue and those found involved in these acts will be strictly taken under law.

Moreover, Police also appealed to the people of the district to come forward with the information regarding Drug Peddlers so that curative steps can be taken against them. (KNB)
