Police Arrests Peddler in Srinagar; Recovers Contraband

Srinagar 24 February (KNB): Srinagar Police arrested a peddler during a checking at naka (checkpoint) established at Syed Mansoor Chowk in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. 

In a statement officials said that Police Party of Police Station Karan Nagar after establishing a Naka at Syed Mansoor Chowk for vehicle/pedestrian checking,
stopped one Scooty B/R No. JK01AE-4883, driven by Mursal Amin Bhat S/O Mohammad Amin Bhat R/O Sekidafar Safakadal Srinagar.

During search a Polythene bag was found in the boot space of Scotty in which following illicit drugs, 1) Alprazolam Tablets 0.5 mg (Alprasafe-0.5) 240 tablets; 2) Trepantadol Tablets 50 mg (Trentadol-50) 200 tablets and 3) Tapentadol Tablets-75 mg (Tapal-75) 57 tablets, i.e a total of (497) tablets recovered from his possession, officials stated.

“During questioning, the accused disclosed that he has bought these illicit drugs from one Faisal Ahmad Makaya S/O Khurshid Ahmad Makaya R/O Nawakadal Srinagar,” the statement read.

Officials further stated, “The recovered illicit drugs and Scotty were seized and the involved person arrested,” adding that a Case FIR No. 04/2021 U/S 8/22 NDPS Act, stands registered in Police Station Karan Nagar and investigation set into motion.

The statement said that locals of the area have hailed the Police action & are expecting that this type of action against drug menace shall continue in future also. (KNB)
