Police Arrests Peddler in Bandipora; Recovers Contraband

Bandipora 6 May (KNB): Police arrested a drug peddler in Shadipora Sumbal area of north Kashmir Bandipora district and recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.

Bandipora police on Thursday said that while acting on specific information a police party of Police Station Sumbal led by SHO P/S Sumbal, under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal Shri Surinder Mohan-JKPS ,during a Naka checking at Shadipora arrested one person and recovered from his possession 40 Bottles of Z-REX (Codeine Phosphate) 100 ML each and Dicyclomine Hydrochloride and Acetaminophen Capsule = 24x6x4= 576 Capsules in 04 boxes.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Younis Malla S/O Mohammad Yaqoob Malla R/O Shilvat Sumbal,” officials added.

As per police, during preliminary enquiry it was revealed that the accused was a peddler and was selling the drugs to youths of the area at exorbitant rates and make them drug addicts.

Officials said that accordingly a case FIR No. 55/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up. (KNB)
