Kulgam November 16 (KNB): Police in Kulgam have arrested two drug peddlers including a lady and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officials stated that a Police Party headed by SHO PS Kulgam under the Supervision of DySP HQRs Kulgam raided a residential house belonging to Ghulam Mohammad Laway at Chawalgam Kulgam.
During search, officers were able to recover 2.5Kgs of Charas from the possession of two persons including a lady, officials stated, adding that they have been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Laway and his wife Shameema, both residents of Chawalgam Kulgam.
Officials further stated that both have been arrested and shifted to PS Kulgam where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, case FIR number 280/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated, officials stated.
Officials requested the community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, further assured that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. (KNB)
They added that their consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace. (KNB)
