One More Militant Killed In Sopore Encounter; Toll Three

Srinagar 24 August (KNB): Another unidentified militant has been killed by government security forces in the encounter in Pethseer area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.

Officials told news agency Kashmir News Bureau that another unidentified militant has been killed in the encounter which raged last night in Pethseer area of Sopore, taking the total militants killed to three.

Earlier, Two unidentified militants were killed by the forces during the gunbattle.

Searches are taking place in the area and the encounter site, as the firing has come to an halt. Moreover, officials said that incriminating material including arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site.

Moreover, the operation has come to an end, as per Jammu and Kashmir Police.

As per KNB reports, the encounter raged during the night hours, after joint teams of JK police, Army and CRPF, based on specific intel about the presence of militants, carried out a cordon and search operation in the area.

As the forces approached the suspected spot, militants opened fire and the gun-battle ensued. (KNB)
