Srinagar 27 March (KNB): One militant killed and three Army personnel injured in an encounter which broke on Saturday evening in Wangam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian.
As per officials a joint team of forces and police launched a cordon and search operation in Wangam area, following the inputs about the presence of militants.
Officials said that upon reaching the suspected spot, hiding militants opened fire which was retaliated with the same response by forces, triggering off the encounter.
Later, Police officials confirmed that one unidentified militant has been killed in the encounter.
Officials also said that three army personnel sustained bullet injuries during the gun-battle and were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Furthermore, officials added that an American made assault M4 Rifle was recovered from the slain militant. (KNB)
