Srinagar 18 August (KNB): Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh Wednesday ordered an immediate action against the erring police officer involved in yesterday’s thrashing of journalists in Srinagar.
While covering the Shia Muslim mourners’ procession on 8th Muharram in Srinagar city, J&K police resorted to lathicharge and thrashing of journalists in which some suffered injuries with damage to the cameras also.
Following the incident, the police’s action was decried by the media fraternity as well as some politicians. However, on Wednesday morning. J&K Police tweeted that “DGP J&K Sh Dilbag Singh takes serious view of undesirable behaviour with some media men in Srinagar yesterday.” (sic).
“SSP Srinagar directed to take immediate action against the erring police officer,” said J&K Police quoting DGP Dilbag Singh. (KNB)
