Srinagar 22 December (KNB): As the Chillia Kalan, forty days of intense cold, has set in since the last day, the Meteorological department Wednesday said that Srinagar and other places of valley witnessed a rise in night temperatures.
As per weather official, Srinagar last night recorded -1.8 degrees Celsius of temperature which was at -2.8 degrees Celsius on the previous night in the summer capital of J&K.
The MeT official yesterday said that there would be a further rise of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in temperature in the valley with a 4 to 5 degrees Celsius increase in the mercury in Ladakh.
However, the coldest station last night was the Pahalgam with temperature recorded at -5.2 degrees Celsius and tourist destination Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded -4.0 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, the temperature last night in other places of Kashmir was recorded as -3.0 degrees C in Qazigund, –2.9 degrees C in Kupwara, -1.9 degrees C in Kokernag and -3.8 degrees C in Konibal. (KNB)
