National Handloom Day: PM Calls for Support for Local Handloom Products; Home Minister Extends Greeting

Srinagar 7 August (KNB): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called for the support for local handloom products on National Handloom Day, where as the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah extended his greetings on the occasion.

Narendra Modi has said that Handlooms manifest India’s diversity and the dexterity of countless weavers and artisans and has called for support for the local handloom products.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Handlooms manifest India’s diversity and the dexterity of countless weavers and artisans. National Handloom Day is an occasion to reiterate support to our weavers by enhancing the spirit of #MyHandloomMyPride. Let us support local handloom products!”

Amit Shah in his tweets said, “On National Handloom Day, I extend my warm wishes to our immensely talented weaver community and the people associated with it.”

“We are blessed to have a vibrant handloom heritage industry that is globally recognized and the Modi Government is leaving no stone unturned to empower this sector.”

He further said that, “This National Handloom Day, let us all pledge to wear India Handloom products and motivate others to do the same. This is the best way to promote and preserve our rich tradition of the ancient weaves in the true sense.”

Moreover, on the occasion, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha in his tweet said,  “On National Handloom Day, we salute & celebrate beautiful craftsmanship of our vibrant weavers, artisans that are contributing towards our rich indigenous heritage culture.”

He further said, “Let us resolve to protect our handloom heritage & encourage all to buy handloom products.” (KNB)
