MMU Resolves to Fight Against Social Evils: Grand Mufti Nasir ul Islam

Srinagar 03 August (KNB): Grand Mufti Nasir ul Islam on Tuesday said that Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), comprising different religious bodies of Kashmir, has decided to fight against the social evils like drug abuse, dowry, suicides and others which are prevalent in the valley.         

Grand Mufti further said that MMU discussed the prevailing social evils in the society and retained suggestions from other members regarding it. “During the meeting, it was decided that we would take a planned action against the social evils,” said Grand Mufti. 

He further said that irrespective of the religious cults, the MMU decided to find the solutions of all matters and no one would be allowed to wade in a sectarian differences. “Also if any cleric is found overstepping the mark,  action will be taken against such person,” said Grand Mufti.

“During the meeting it was also agreed upon to demand Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s and all those Kashmiri’s release immediately, who are confined in different outside jails, as there is no moral and legal backing to such detentions,” said Grand Mufti. 

On Mirwaiz’s continuous detention despite of appeals for his release, Nasir ul Islam said that they would wait till further two-three Fridays and if nothing happens then roadmap ahead would be forged.  (KNB)
