Militant Killed in Pampore Encounter, Top LeT Commander Believed to be Trapped: IGP-K

Srinagar 16 October (KNB): One militant has been killed in a nocturnal encounter in Dragbal area of Pampore, Awantipora, said police on Saturday. 

The encounter started in the Dragbal area of Pampore after a cordon and search operation was launched by a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF. 

In the ensuing gunfight, one militant was killed by the forces. However, the operation is still going on in the area. 

IGP-K Vijay Kumar has said that top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander, Umar Mustaq Khandey who was involved in killing of two police personnel at Bhagat Srinagar & other militant crimes, is trapped in Pampore Encounter. 

Since yesterday evening, three encounters took place in Kashmir valley. Besides the three encounters, another one has been going on in Jammu’s Poonch district. (KNB)
