Kulgam Police Arrests Four Peddlers; Recovers Contraband

Kulgam 27 April (KNB): District Police Kulgam on Tuesday claimed to have arrested Four peddlers and recovered contraband from their possession.

In a statement–a copy of which lies with news agency Kashmir News Bureau– officials said that Police party of Police Post Frisal led by I/C PP Frisal Sub Inspector Farhat Hussain under the supervision of SHO Yaripora and DySP PC Hatipora while patrolling at Kharpora intercepted a vehicle (Wagon’R) bearing registration No. DL9CP-2664.

Officials said that during the checking, Police officers were able to recover 42 Bottles of Codeine Phosphate like substance and 130 grams of Charas like substance from the possession of the Four persons boarding the vehicle.

Officials identified them as Waqar Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Yaseen Dar resident of Padshahibagh Srinagar; Mohd Aslam War son of Ghulam Hassan War resident of Arwani Bijebhara; Bilal Ahmad Hanji son of Mohd Maqbool Hanji resident of Kharpora Frisal and Mehraj-u-din Wani son of Ghulam Mohd Wani resident of Nowpora Kharpora Frisal.

“All the four Drug peddlers were arrested, contraband substances and vehicle used for commission of crime were seized,” officials said, adding that a case FIR No. 21/2021 U/S 8/21,22 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Yaripora and further investigation is in progress. (KNB)
