KU to hold a 3-Day Workshop on Capacity Building for Urdu Teachers from November 21

Srinagar 08 Nov(KNB): The School of Arts, Languages and Literatures, Department of Urdu at the University of Kashmir is all set to organize a three-day training workshop titled “Capacity Building for Primary and Middle level Urdu Teachers (Schooli Sathah Par Urdu Asatiza Ki Salahiyat Sazi)” from November 21, 2023, at the varsity’s EMMRC auditorium.

The seminar-cum-workshop is designed to empower 30 selected school teachers with the latest insights into teaching Urdu language, aligning with the new National Education Policy 2020. The inaugural session will be graced by the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan and to be attended by Registrar Dr. Nisar A Mir, along with esteemed members of the Kashmir University faculty.

In light of the ongoing implementation of the new National Education Policy-2020. Professor Arifa Bushra, the Head of the Department of Urdu, while acknowledging the talent of school teachers in the valley, asserts that the workshop will further enhance their abilities and prepare them to confront modern teaching challenges boldly.

Exploring the workshop’s context, Professor Bushra said that experienced trainers will provide valuable insights into various facets, including fiction, language, poetry, prose, syntax, dialogue translation, and other pertinent areas.

The primary goal of this workshop is to evaluate the current state of Urdu language and literature at the Primary and Middle levels in both government and private institutions. The aim is to enhance the pedagogy of Urdu teaching and learning, incorporating the methods introduced by the National Educational Policy (2020), while also making use of audio-visual techniques and interactive methods.

The University of Kashmir remains committed to making Urdu language education more effective by continuing to conduct such workshops. This ongoing effort will ensure that the Urdu teaching faculty continually adapts to the evolving educational landscape ,especially in context of NEP 2020 guidelines,said one of the coordinators of the Workshop.

Distinguished faculty members, Dr. Kausar Rasool, Dr. Mushtaq Hussain, and Dr. Altaf Anjum, will serve as coordinators for this enriching workshop, facilitating an exchange of knowledge and fostering excellence in Urdu education. Some books are also set to be released on the occasion as per the organisers.(KNB)
