Khalid Rathore quits National Conference joins Apni Party

‘NC trying to befool people on restoration of Articles 370, 35-A’

‘NC trying to attain power using these slogans

SRINAGAR, Nov 12: In a big jolt to youth wing of National Conference in Srinagar, Khalid Rathore, district president youth Srinagar along with senior youth leader of National Conference Parvez Ahmad Bhat joined Apni Party on Friday at its office in Lal Chowk Srinagar.

The reason cited by Rathore in his resignation letter submitted to NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah is that the NC is trying to befool the people on the restoration of special status to Jammu and Kashmir. “National Conference is trying to befool people of Jammu and Kashmir by using restoration of the special position of J&K just as a slogan to attain power, which I can not withstand because my prime concern and the goal is to serve my people with full honesty,” reads the resignation letter submitted by Rathore to NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah.

He has further said: “I am resigning from the basic membership of the party (NC), the reason being the confusing the decision of the party to participate in the elections (DDC) so as to restore Articles 35-1 and 370. You may note that earlier party had decided to boycott the ULB and Panchayat elections so as to safeguard Articles 35-A and 370.”

In his letter, Rathore has censured the National Conference for its ‘double standards’. His letter reads further: “This confusing step of the Party is posing an image and belief somewhere in my mind, that party is trying to befool the people of J&K.. I think it is time we tell the people of J&K the truth which every one of us owes to them that what is achievable and what is not and not to try to sell them something we are not serious about.”

Pertinently, Rathore was considered as a right-hand associate NC leader and former minister Nasir Aslam Wani. Rathore and Parvez were welcomed by the Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari into the party fold.
